Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy)

Adult relationships are all about attachment bonds.  Our beloveds are the most important people in our lives.  It is natural and healthy to want to connect with our loved ones for comfort.  It is terrifying when we reach out, and our beloved is not there for us.

Some of us act out in ways that are guaranteed to push our loved ones away:  criticizing, yelling, arguing, withdrawing because feeling rejected is so painful.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to connect in healthy ways with the person who is most important to us?

EFT is a short term solution (typically, 12 to 20 sessions), that helps couples be able to rekindle the love that brought them together in the first place.  I work with couples to provide a safe place to open up in healthy ways.

In couples therapy, the couple is the client.  I do not take sides.  I work to help both of you find more satisfying ways to connect.

This is not an effective therapy if you are ready to split up, or if there is domestic violence.  This works for couples who want to stay together.

Research has shown that it has a 70% rate of effectiveness.  How cool is that?
